ALL MY FEELS

SPOILER WARNING FOR THOSE WHO HAVEN'T PLAYED ARKHAM CITY YET!

See, I got to the main game's ending a few days ago. Easily one of the most beautifully sad scenes ever assembled in the franchise thus far.

Joker, who had been dying rather slowly of blood poisoning due to his actions of the previous game, manages to mess up entirely and stab Batman's arm, which had the cure for them both (Joker had transfused his blood into Batman to poison him too as motivation to cure him, as he figured it wouldn't happen otherwise... makes sense in context...). Batman had already taken his half, and had been about ready to give Joker, who is hack coughing, starting to bald, and the most depressingly ill you have ever seen him. Joker just managed to, in his desperation to get the cure, stab the very arm holding it for him, making it drop and shatter all over the floor.

As he desperately tries to lap it up, Batman says perhaps the best thing that could have summed up what he had intended to do: "Do you want to know something funny..? Even after everything you've done... I would have saved you..."

Joker agrees that that was rather funny, and so finally dies with a smile on his face, laughing at the whole situation weakly.

Batman then makes sure to carry his fallen rival out of the building, past all the thugs, past Harley Quinn (who is horrified to see the love of her life dead now...), out of the gates of Arkham City, past the cops, and finally sets him down on the hood of Commissioner Gordon's squad car gently, doing all this without a single word.

"Batman? What happened!"

Bruce just keeps walking without another word.

The kicker in all this? Talia, Batman's lover (yes, I know... I was kinda surprised to hear about her too...), had been shot dead by Joker, and yet... Batman carried Joker's body out of the building, but didn't go back for her. Wow... just... wow...

Another kicker? Joker died at the very theater Batman's parents had been shot outside at.

"Back to where it all began..."

Wow... Batman just lost the one guy in Gotham that probably understood him just as much as he did himself.

Singing to him... and crying at the end.
