What if? - Reincarnated Baby!Mephiles

One of my odd “What If?” things that I actually once started the pieces of a story to…

Mephiles get reincarnated, but as Shadow and Rouge’s kid. 

Considering that the Sonic series is known to contain homages to the Dragon Ball series (Man, oh man, I could write down pages of them), I like to sometimes draw some parallels or ideas from DB for Sonic. 

In this case, let’s look back at *SPOILER FOR DRAGON BALL* Kid Buu.

For those who didn’t follow the series, Kid Buu was basically pure condensed bad energy packaged up in a creature with a childlike personality and found pleasure in destruction because it saw it as fun. No restraint, no sense of morality… he’s basically a kid that wields far too much power. Yikes

After being defeated, Goku, hero of the series, makes a hopeful wish that Kid Buu could be reincarnated as a better person, which happens in the form of Uub, who is an all around good kid and later becomes Goku’s student. 

*END SPOILERS FOR DRAGON BALL*

That said, I believe that the Sonic 06 timeline takes place on a tangent or parallel to the main series timeline, as the only part that seems totally canon to the series is that Sonic went to the Festival of the Sun and ran past Elise, causing a moment for them both to recall a previous life or timeline, before returning to their normal lives. 

Mephiles was shown to have not only two variations of himself prominent in the game story (Shadow’s story Mephiles and Silver’s story Mephiles), but to be able to pull other instances of himself from other moments of time at any given second, and it’s implied, indirectly, by Sega and Archie that Time Eater might in fact be a Main Timeline incarnation of Mephiles. 

Also worth noting is the cut dialogue in which Mephiles claims while dazed and cornered by Shadow prior to being stuffed in the Scepter of Darkness, that he can bridge gaps between “other worlds” and that he “transcends time itself”, so it’s safe to assume that not only do other timelines really exist in the series, but that Mephiles probably managed to weave himself well enough into the fabric of time that he probably caused some stuff to happen elsewhere that he didn’t intend… 

That said, I think it might be interesting if Mephiles got reincarnated as Shadow and Rouge’s possible kid (because I totally ship those two), much to their initial shock. Maybe Sonic pulled a Goku there, and make a offhanded wish that Mephiles could be reincarnated as a not so broken soul or something, because I can totally see Sonic being sympathetic despite the fact that Mephiles totally shot him in the back in the 06 Timeline. Sonic really doesn’t seem the guy to hold a grudge. 

Anyway, I also have this new headcanon that Mobian Hedgehog baby quills are short and soft when they’re born, and they grow out and stiffen as they get older (kinda like real baby hedgehogs), and that the markings also come in later as well, although some may be present at birth. I figured that would make the drawing easier to identify as a younger age that way…

And yes… that’s a Sonic Doll he’s holding there. XD
